An Insider Look into Wellington, FL
Wellington is a world renowned equestrian focused city, home to some of the most luxurious properties in Florida. Horse lovers travel here for the three month horse show and fall in love with the city, weather & world class competition, and end up making it their home! During the months of January 4, 2023 to April 2, 2023 the city becomes the ultimate playground for equestrians. Wellington, “the horse capital of the World” is filled with some of the most extraordinary competitions in 3 different disciplines. The dazzling Winter Equestrian Festival garners over 2,500 horses a week with riders competing in show jumping, hunters, as well as world class dressage and polo.
One of my favorite aspects of Wellington is the accessibility and ease of getting there. Not only is the community simple to navigate via miles and miles of interconnected horse trails, it’s an easy flight into Palm Beach International Airport, and only a thirty minute drive to Palm Beach, & a hour & a half drive to Miami Beach.
The Winter Equestrian Festival attracts athletes and Olympians from around the world. The festival encompasses over 500 acres of land, whereas most venues are around 80 acres. The main grounds accommodate more than 250 stalls, paths, horse trails, boutique equestrian themed shopping and great people watching. Families will love all the great entertainment for the kids!
What influenced your decision to make Wellington your second home?
Wellington hosts one of the best, most prestigious horse shows in the world, not only the country. We are so lucky to have it in our backyard. The top equestrians from around the world come for this 13 week horse show which offers show jumpers, hunters, as well as world class dressage and polo. Saturday Night Lights Grand Prix is my favorite event, it’s incredibly exciting to see the absolutely best horses and riders competing for the Grand Prix prize. Family friendly, great food and fellowship while you watch the riders give it their all. After riding on and off for most of my life, I’m excited to see what this season has to offer.
